As a community pillar, the state of LAX has a strong impact on our local economy. LAX improvements, upgrades, and construction schedules affect both the business climate and neighborhood residents, and with so much happening so quickly it can be difficult to stay informed. The LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce is a strong advocate for building relationships and enhancing transparency. So, when addressed with multiple questions from the community regarding the process—and progress—of LAX’s expansion, the LAX Coastal Chamber hosted the inaugural State of LAX luncheon in 2016.
Flint was appointed Chief Executive Officer of LAWA in June 2015 and leads the team responsible for returning LAX to iconic status, creating a world class, modern airport for the modern traveler. This “new” LAX will focus on building an advanced transportation system that will give passengers a first-class, swift, convenient, and reliable way to access the airport, and will also feature additional projects such as upgraded terminals and on-site car rental facilities. In two short years, Flint has done her best to become an active and engaged member of the LAX Coastal community—including being featured on the cover of the 2017 LAX Coastal Magazine & Business Guide—and is looking forward to addressing the business community once again at the State of LAX.
Beacon Economics will also be taking the stage at this year’s event, with Adam Fowler delivering an updated look at the state of the Los Angeles economy. As Research Manager at Beacon Economics, Fowler is responsible for leading projects on environmental economics and domestic energy, public opinion and attitudes, and the economic impacts of gaming in California. His research interests include the intersection of behavioral economics and public policy. At the State of LAX, Fowler will be highlighting employment, consumer and business spending, and the constraining effects that high housing costs are having on local economic growth.
As always, this event would not be possible without the support of the LAX Coastal community, and so the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce would like to thank this year’s generous sponsors:
